7 Layer Bean Dip Recipe! Totally Enchanted Bean Dip!

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

7 Layer Bean Dip Recipe! I'm naming this version The Totally Enchanted Bean Dip! This is a recipe that everyone loves! I can't remember the first time I tried a bean dip but I was hooked. It was long before the days of internet searches or at least long before I searched for recipes! I didn't have a recipe so I looked on the back of one for the ingredients and I attempted to make a home made version. It called for tomatoes which I didn't have on hand. So I improvised with what I now call my secret ingredient. (Which is no longer secret) I had a can of tomato paste on hand in the pantry. I love the taste of the paste!

When I make this dish and family members see it they always question the paste till they try the dip. I've given them the ingredients and the layers but never a step by step... so here is the recipe.

Well that's enough bone in the story onto the meat of the dish, with the recipe! (What average Joe has the time to scroll past 5 pages of a story to get to the actual recipe? Oh and countless ads!)

I decided to kick it up a notch and use some brands made by some really awesome people with world class customer service. We should all try and support #smallbusiness!

Those brands are Far Out Foodz! with the Totally Taco Seasoning and The Spicy Gnome! with the Enchanted Flame sauce! Normally I just roll with a taco seasoning kit from a store bought brand.

1. Tomato Paste ( The secret ingredient! It adds a depth of sweetness) Smooth it out in a nice even layer... goes without saying right? Use one 6 oz can.

2. Refried Beans (The magical fruit!) Star of the bean dip? I used one 16 oz can.

4. Ro-Tel Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes. I used one 10 oz can drained.

5. Sour Creme with Totally Taco Seasoning by Far Out Foodz. I used two tablespoons! That's TBL not TSP for the average Joe non chef's out there like myself! Sometimes I grab the wrong one size so I spelled it out to make it clear!

Mix it up really well till the seasoning is blended in! I will say using the Totally Taco is a game changer for this recipe and I won't be making it any other way in the future. No more store bought brands!

6. Cheese Mexican Style Blend

7. Layer of fresh Cilantro and drizzle with Enchanted Flame to taste from the Spicy Gnome! The Enchanted flame adds some heat, with lime flavor similar to a salsa verde. I love spicy but spicy doesn't love me! This is the right amount of heat for me! I guess the Enchanted Flame technically makes it 8 layers?

Optional adds, fresh jalapenos and/or black olives if those are musts! I've done them both!

I like it to set up in the fridge the day before as it's best served cold. Grab you some Pyrex if you don't already have some. It really shows off the layers!
